Absorptive Barriers provide the most effective noise control.
Roadside barriers designed to absorb sound significantly reduce noise reflections which degrade sound barrier performance and can improve barrier effectiveness several dB. Non-absorptive (reflective) barriers can amplify sound, increasing noise problems in certain arrangements and locations.

NoiShield® products offer the best noise-absorbing performance in the industry. The rumble of passing buses and trucks is a common complaint in many locations; NoiShield excels in absorbing these low frequency sounds. Made of steel or aluminum, NoiShield barriers can be designed with absorptive materials on one or both sides. They are available in a variety of colours and finishes. Low weight and sturdy, they are well suited for structural mounting, retrofit applications, and bridge projects. After more than 20 years of service in freezing -40°F northern climates, IAC NoiShield Barriers are still performing well. IAC products can be supplied as free-standing barriers or as cladding for existing barriers.

Soundcore™ Plus barriers offer a proven design with a high level of sound absorption. The prestressed concrete panels allow for wider spans between columns and reduce cost. Because prestressed concrete resists hairline cracks, Soundcore Plus barriers require minimal maintenance. Highly resistant to water and weather damage, this product is available in a broad range of surface textures and finishes.

AcoustaWood™ Plus barriers provide acoustic absorption cladding with the attractive wood finish preferred by some localities. These products are made from engineered timber with superior strength and treatability. They are pressure treated and kiln dried to make them durable and dimensionally stable. AcoustaWood Plus is available with a variety of sound absorptive finishes. Its acoustic absorption surfaces resit the ravages of water and weather.

Reflective barriers can offer a low-cost solution for some applications.
Noise absorption at some sites is not essential. In these situations, lower cost reflective barriers can be effective.

NoiShield-R™ barriers provide an attractive wall in areas where sound reflections are not aprimary concern. These barriers are designed in a range of spans and heights, determined in part by wind load requirements. NoiShield-R ribbed Galvalume® steel panels are available in a variety of Kynar® 500 coating colours.

Soundcore™ barriers, made of long span concrete panels, offer superior strength and beauty. Under most conditions, they require only minimal labour and equipment to construct. Soundcore panels are available in a wide variety of finishes and colours and are highly resistant to impact and weather damage. They are an excellent choice when noise absorption is not critical.

AcoustaWood™ walls are prefabricated and pre-engineered products with the aesthetically appealing look of wood on both sides, a good-neighbour wall. They are easy to install and maintain and provide an economical solution for sites preferring wood that doesn't shrink, split or leak noise. This wall is ideal for highways close to residential developments.
