Research
and Development has enabled IAC to maintain its position as a leader
in the Noise Control Industry for almost a half century. Our wide
range of products and a strong tradition of custom engineering have
demanded a high level of scientific and technological expertise
in acoustics, aerodynamics, materials and manufacturing processes.
Our Aero-Acoustic
Laboratories maintain a rigorous standard of quality in performing
independent tests of our products. Recognized by the National
Institute of Standards and Technology under the National Voluntary
Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) for acoustical testing
services, the lab serves to underpin many of the Company's activities.
The acoustic test facilities include a 10,000 cubic foot reverberation
room, acoustic wind tunnel and an anechoic chamber. Mechanical
and structural testing is performed on a variety of special purpose
test fixtures and a high pressure blow-down rig provides for aerodynamic
modeling of heavy duty silencers and jet engine test cells.
Innovative
thinking, backed by rigorous testing and experimentation has enabled
IAC to be first in the field with many products and materials
for sound control ranging from duct silencers to sound proof doors,
recording studios, anechoic test chambers and aircraft run-up
pens. One example of IAC's many patented products is the packless
duct silencer for controlling air conditioning system noise. This,
together with our new, all metal, fiber-free acoustic ceiling
tile, provides a total solution to the problem of maintaining
good indoor air quality in hospitals, food processing plants and
semi-conductor "clean rooms".
IAC's Research
and Development team continues to study developing technologies
relating to acoustics in communications, security systems, entertainment,
aviation and architecture. Our aim is to maintain the effectiveness
of our products in meeting the needs of our customers and to apply
state-of-the-art solutions to "making the world a quieter
place".
